Our Story
Astra was established to bring hospital-grade specialist care to the OMR corridor, where rapid residential growth had outpaced local healthcare. Families in Semmancheri, Sholinganallur, Navalur and Perumbakkam were travelling long distances into central Chennai for care that should have been available near home - including in emergencies.
Today Astra operates as a multispeciality hospital with consultants across orthopaedics and spine, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, cardiology, gastroenterology, general surgery, neurology, pulmonology and physiotherapy, supported by a 24-hour emergency department. What to Expect on Your Visit
Before you arrive. Call +91 96771 11775 to book an OPD slot or use our contact page. Carry previous prescriptions, discharge summaries, scans and reports - including films, not just the printed report - along with a photo ID.
On arrival. Register at the front desk. If you are attending emergency, you will be triaged immediately rather than by arrival order: the most urgent patients are seen first.
Your consultation. Your consultant will take a history, examine you and explain what they think is happening in plain language. If tests are needed, you will be told what each test is for before it is ordered.
If you need admission or surgery. You will be given an explanation of the procedure, its risks and benefits and a cost estimate before anything proceeds.
